Cleverman - The Namorrodor

I was recently lucky enough to work on the Creature Design for the new series, which is out already and I recommend checking it out if you can, called Cleverman made by Pukeko Pictures.  I worked at WetaWorkshop along with Leri Greer who oversaw the project as well as getting to collaborate with Ryan Griffen who created the show and Jake Nash who were fantastic to work with.  I learned a lot about Aboriginal culture and felt fortunate enough to be apart of this team.  Currently been working on Season 2 which looks to be just as good!

Unused Orc Concept

Digging through old files and found this unused Orc concept from 2011 that was done for The Hobbit Trilogies.  Was pretty happy with the design even though we changed direction for the film so I thought I'd share.

Art and Industry of Imagination Workshop

2 posts in one day, what is going on!  This dragon was created for a workshop I ran which was over a day with a great bunch of students!

Childhood's End - Karellen designs

In 2014 I got to be apart of the team that worked on Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End TV adaptation.  I worked up the designs at WetaWorkshop and the incredible team at Makeup Effects Group created the suit that Charles Dance would perform in.  Please check the Makeup Effects link for more production stills and videos, they did an incredible job!  It was such an honour as well to find out Charles Dance was going to be doing the performance of Karellen.  I loved the book and felt he was a perfect fit as well as Tywin Lannister being one of my favourite villains of all time!

Here's a small sample of the work that got done as well as the final concept (attempting) to put Dance's likeness into the design.

Paul and Nick with Charles in the final make up.  Amazing job!

Dragon'S

Time to dust the ol' cobwebs off this blog with a couple of new pieces... well one new one at least!

This fella was done as a pitch piece for a film still in production with Director Biz Crummett, she was kind enough to let me show the piece which was done in 2o12.  Stay tuned for that project with more to come!

... And THIS fella was just to do a dragon piece again.  I used some 3D and painted over the model from a Keyshot render.
