Homo ergaster Study.

This was a project I started a while ago. I was able to do a 3D scan of the Nariokotome Boy skull, which I'm still busy doing some 3D sculpting on, but also decided to do my own version of a Homo Ergaster, which was this piece. Will upload more of the sculpting work here as I get them done. Done in Zbrush and photoshop.

I did this sketch for a project of mine, but didn't feel the overall design was what I wanted, but rather liked it anyway for what it was. Jut a quicky done in Photoshops.

The Sik part 2

I decided a while ago to do a full body, of the portrait study I did earlier of this guy. I've called this done, as it's been sittin around for a while so, out with the old, in with the new. It was a fun character study, and environment. It was painted in Photoshop.

Pray for dawn

I was asked to do a couple of concept pieces for Stephen Batchelors, Pray for Dawn
based on Stephens descriptions on the characters. I made up these two over the weekend. Done in Photoshops!

blazed oracle

I kind of imagined a temple, with a lot of these guy's, accepting blessings, like chosen oracles of some sort. Getting blazed all day, talkin some spiritual babble every now and again. But in all seriousness, it was a fun painting, done in good old photoshop.

bioluminescent alien

Inspired a little from watching The Abyss again recently... great design on those aliens! Wanted to do something bioluminescent in a pretty much zero gravity environment. Just some fun anyway, all in photoshop.

Anno Mundi

This piece I called Anno Mundi. It's Latin for "In the Year of the World." I was browsing through some old folders and came across this one, and thought I'd share. Painted in Photoshop.

A quick sketch I did towards the end of a work day, ended up not really being for anything, but, just something? none the less, the drawing was done, and he's a creepy bastard! Something I might sculpt in ZBrush one day... but posting the drawing for now.

The Sik

Which has been me for the last couple of days, have been battlin a cold. But decided to draw something on those lines. But perhaps I'll think of a better name for him, because I'm quite happy with the design. I might sculpt this up, as well as post the concept drawing (when I ge the scanner working).

Got the scanner working and added the sketch. I carry around a little A5 sketch book, which I tend to just sketch down idea's, nothing more than 5 minute doodles. You never know when those ideas will arrive, so I find being prepared with paper and pencil at hand, handy for when I get inspired. This sketch was just something I thought of, and the painting changed quite a bit, as I'm sure the sculpt will take more a life of it's own. Cheers.

A Alien

An alien Zbrush paint up. Something a little more "fantastical" rather than gritty.

I do more than just heads, I swear! I just love the oppertunity, portraits allow to show a character, so I tend to do a lot. This was a speed paint of an old digital maquette I had to quickly demonstrate how I paint up in Photoshop. Also, A quick sketch of some monster who just wants to bash.

GM grotesque

Havin had a bit of time to do some personal work, I decided to just do a study of a grotesque dude who's been slightly modified. I didn't really think too much into what he does, etc. But I imagine it's not all, a pleasant life. I like playing around with harsh features and lines, and I wanted him to look like you wouldn't want to mess with him, but also sympathise with him. All in all, just a gnarly guy, which I had fun doing in ZBrush first, then exported the lighting pass, and painted him up in Photoshop. Cheers.
